Why I Chose to Build My Future with Shaklee

There have been a few moments in my life that completely changed the trajectory of where I was headed.

Click to watch!

The first was saying yes to coaching over fourteen years ago. At the time, I had no idea that one decision would allow me to stay home with my boys, help thousands of women improve their health, and build a business that would completely change our family's future.

The second happened two years ago.

If you've followed my journey for any length of time, you know I wasn't planning on starting over. I loved what I did. I loved my team. We had built something really special together. Then, almost overnight, everything changed.

I remember sitting with my husband after everything unfolded. I had every emotion you could imagine. I was frustrated. I was disappointed. I was grieving the future I thought I was building.

The next morning, after a lot of prayer, I looked at him and said something I'll never forget.

"I really believe the Lord gave me the gift of leadership, and I don't want to waste it."

That sentence became my filter for every decision that followed.

I wasn't looking for the company with the loudest marketing.

I wasn't looking for the quickest paycheck.

I wasn't looking for the easiest path back to where I had been.

I was asking a much bigger question.

Where can I confidently lead people for the next twenty years?

Because here's what I knew...

If people were going to trust me with their health, their time, and in many cases their livelihood, I had a responsibility to do my homework. I wasn't willing to jump into another opportunity simply because it looked exciting. I wanted to know who was leading the company. I wanted to know what they stood for. I wanted to understand their financial stability, their commitment to science, their vision for the future, and whether I could proudly attach my name to theirs for decades to come.

So I started researching.

The more I learned, the more one company continued to rise to the top.

Not because it was the newest.

Not because it was the trendiest.

But because it had already stood the test of time.

This year, Shaklee celebrated its 70th anniversary.

Just pause and think about that for a minute.

Seventy years.

In an industry where companies come and go, where acquisitions happen almost weekly, and where trends seem to change every six months, Shaklee has spent seven decades doing one thing remarkably well: helping people create healthier lives through science.

That caught my attention.

The legacy actually began in 1956 with Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee, a chiropractor, inventor, and pioneer who believed something revolutionary for his time: our bodies are designed to thrive when we give them the right support. Long before "preventive health," "functional wellness," "healthy aging," or "cellular health" became buzzwords, he was teaching that true wellness begins at the cellular level.

Today, those ideas aren't revolutionary anymore.

They're exactly where modern science is headed.

That was my first "wow" moment.

The second came when I started digging into the company's commitment to research and development.

I think it's easy to assume every supplement company is investing heavily in science.

They're not.

What impressed me about Shaklee wasn't just what they had accomplished in the past. It was the fact that they never stopped innovating.

Science evolves.

Technology evolves.

Our understanding of the human body evolves.

Instead of protecting products simply because they've always sold well, Shaklee has continued to invest in improving formulations as new science emerges.

A perfect example is the evolution from Vivix to the new Vivix+, which now includes nicotinamide riboside (NR) to support NAD+ levels and cellular health. They didn't settle for "good enough." They asked how they could make an already exceptional product even better.

That says a lot about a company.

Another thing that stood out to me was Shaklee's history of innovation.

Dr. Shaklee developed one of the first multivitamin and mineral supplements available in the United States, decades before daily supplementation became common. Over the years, the company has continued to pioneer advancements in nutrition, environmental sustainability, and wellness while maintaining rigorous quality standards and investing in scientific validation.

The more I learned, the more I realized I wasn't looking at a company trying to catch up to the wellness industry.

I was looking at one that helped shape it.

At the same time, I couldn't ignore what was happening around the industry.

Over the last several years, we've watched many respected supplement companies be acquired by private equity firms or large corporations. That doesn't automatically make those companies bad. But it did force me to ask an important question.

Who is making the decisions about the products I'm recommending to the people who trust me?

That question mattered because every recommendation I make carries my name.

As someone with a degree in Kinesiology who's spent more than fourteen years helping women improve their health, I don't recommend products because they're popular. I recommend products because I believe in the science behind them, the quality behind them, and the company behind them.

My reputation is attached to every bottle I hand someone.

I don't take that lightly.

As I continued researching, something else became incredibly clear.

The products weren't actually what made me say yes.

The people did.

I spent time listening to Roger Barnett speak long before I ever joined the company. I asked hard questions. I paid attention to how leadership treated ambassadors. I watched how they talked about the future. I watched whether they celebrated only the top earners or whether they genuinely cared about building opportunities for everyone.

What I found was leadership rooted in service.

A company willing to invest in science instead of shortcuts.

A culture focused on helping ordinary people build extraordinary lives.

That resonated with me.

Because leadership has never been about titles to me.

It's about stewardship.

It's about serving people well.

It's about leaving something better than you found it.

Fast forward two years.

Our team has experienced record-breaking growth.

We've welcomed hundreds of new customers and ambassadors.

I've watched women step into confidence they never knew they had.

I've watched families improve their health.

I've watched people build income they never imagined possible.

And every time I attend a leadership event or conference, my confidence grows even more.

Leaving our 70th Anniversary Global Conference this year, I felt something I haven't felt in a long time.

Complete peace.

Not because business is easy.

Not because success is guaranteed.

But because I know exactly where I've planted my roots.

One quote that has stayed with me throughout this journey is from Dr. Shaklee himself:

"Show me a person's thoughts, and I'll show you their future."

I believe that.

I believe the future belongs to people who think long term.

Who value integrity over shortcuts.

Who choose stewardship over hype.

Who invest in their health before they're forced to.

Health has become the new status symbol.

People aren't just asking how long they'll live anymore.

They're asking how well they'll live.

How they'll feel at 50.

At 60.

At 80.

Longevity is no longer a pursuit reserved for retirement. It's becoming a priority for younger generations who want energy, strength, purpose, and vitality for decades to come.

Ironically, that's exactly where Shaklee has been focused for seventy years.

Not because they were following the trend.

Because they helped create it.

Sometimes people ask me why I'm so passionate about this company.

The answer is actually pretty simple.

I didn't choose Shaklee because I needed another opportunity.

I chose Shaklee because I found a company whose values matched my own.

A company built on science.

A company committed to innovation.

A company with a seventy-year legacy of integrity.

A company led by people I trust.

A company I believe will still be changing lives for decades to come.

And maybe that's what excites me the most.

I don't think we're celebrating the end of an incredible seventy-year legacy.

I honestly believe we're standing at the beginning of the next seventy.

If you've been searching for products you can trust, or a business you can build with confidence, I'd love to have that conversation with you. Whether you're looking to improve your own health, create another stream of income, or build something meaningful for your family, I truly believe there has never been a more exciting time to be part of what we're building.

The best chapters of my story are still being written.

And maybe yours are too.

What surprised me most during my research

I'll be honest. Before I really dug into Shaklee, I assumed it was simply another supplement company with a long history.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

The deeper I researched, the more I realized I wasn't looking at a company that had survived for 70 years. I was looking at one that had quietly helped shape the wellness industry long before most people even knew it existed.

Here are just a few things that genuinely surprised me.

It all started more than 100 years ago.

Most people know Shaklee was founded in 1956, but the story actually begins much earlier.

In 1915, Dr. Forrest C. Shaklee developed Vitalized Minerals, recognized as one of the first multivitamin supplements available in the United States. Think about that for a second. More than a century ago, he was already talking about supporting the body through nutrition instead of waiting until people became sick.

Today we call it proactive health.

Back then, it was revolutionary.

Wellness wasn't a trend. It was the mission.

Dr. Shaklee believed people should live in harmony with nature and support their bodies before disease ever became the focus. That philosophy became the foundation of Shaklee when the company officially launched in 1956, and remarkably, it's still the foundation today.

When I read that, I actually smiled.

Because that's exactly how I've coached women for the last fourteen years.

We don't chase symptoms.

We build healthier bodies.

Science has always come first.

One thing I appreciated immediately was that Shaklee didn't stop innovating after finding success.

In fact, they continue to invest heavily in research and development through the Forrest C. Shaklee Innovation Center, where scientists develop, test, and refine products using modern research and rigorous quality standards.

Even more impressive, Shaklee reports supporting more than 135 scientific papers and presentations, including around 90 peer-reviewed clinical studies through collaborations with academic researchers.

As someone who has spent years helping women interpret blood work and make evidence-informed decisions about their health, that mattered to me.

I wanted to know the company behind the products valued research just as much as I do.

They don't protect products. They improve them.

This was another moment where I thought, "Okay... this company thinks differently."

Most brands are terrified to change a bestselling product.

Shaklee isn't.

As the science evolves, they continue improving formulations instead of leaving them untouched simply because they're already successful.

A perfect example is Vivix+.

Vivix was already one of Shaklee's flagship longevity products. Instead of leaving it alone, the company enhanced it by incorporating nicotinamide riboside (NR) to support NAD+ levels and cellular health based on emerging science around healthy aging. That's the mindset I want behind the products I recommend.

They cared about the planet before it was popular.

This one honestly blew me away.

Long before sustainability became part of every company's marketing strategy, Shaklee was already leading in environmental stewardship.

The company introduced one of the first biodegradable household cleaners in the 1960s, one of the first phosphate-free biodegradable laundry detergents in the 1970s, and later became the first company in the world to achieve Climate Neutral certification, fully offsetting emissions from its operations.

Whether someone ever buys a cleaning product from Shaklee isn't really the point.

The point is that they've been thinking long term for decades.

To me, that's the mark of leadership.

Then I looked at the industry.

This was probably the moment everything came together.

Over the last several years, we've watched respected supplement companies merge, sell, or be acquired.

Again, acquisitions aren't automatically good or bad.

But they made me stop and ask a question:

If I'm going to build the next twenty years of my life with a company, who is making the decisions?

Who decides where research dollars go?

Who decides product quality?

Who decides whether long-term innovation matters more than quarterly profits?

Those questions mattered to me because my name goes on every recommendation I make.

When I recommend a product to a client, I'm not just recommending a bottle.

I'm putting my reputation behind the company that made it.

That's why this decision wasn't just about supplements.

It was about stewardship.

It was about leadership.

It was about choosing a company whose values matched the way I've always wanted to serve people.
